What can I expect?

This is the first step of your therapeutic Journey before we get into your therapy sessions.

An Assessment and Treatment Plan session in therapy typically involves the following steps:

  1. Intake Interview: The therapist begins with an intake interview where they ask about the client’s background, medical history, and the issues they’re facing. This helps the therapist understand the client’s situation and needs.

  2. Assessment: The therapist may use various assessment tools or techniques to evaluate the client’s mental health. This could include questionnaires, tests, or simply a detailed conversation about the client’s feelings and experiences.

  3. Goal Setting: The therapist and client collaboratively set goals for the therapy. These goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART).

  4. Treatment Plan Development: Based on the assessment and goals, the therapist develops a treatment plan. This plan outlines the therapeutic approach, techniques to be used, and the expected timeline for progress.

  5. Discussion and Agreement: The therapist discusses the treatment plan with the client, explaining each aspect. The client has the opportunity to ask questions, express concerns, and suggest modifications. Once both parties agree, the treatment plan is finalized.

  6. Implementation: The treatment plan is then put into action in subsequent therapy sessions. The therapist and client work together to achieve the set goals.

Remember, every therapy journey is unique, and the process may vary based on the therapist’s approach and the client’s individual needs. It’s always important for the client to feel comfortable and understood throughout this process.
